St. John’s Lutheran Hospital was formed 56 years ago with the backing of community members that were affiliated with the J. Neils Lumber Company and the local St. John Lutheran Church. The church allowed the hospital founders to use their 501c3 status until the hospital received its own federal 501c3 status. The St. John’s Lutheran name was retained in recognition of the congregation’s support, even though our organization is not affiliated with any religious entities.
We continue today as a Montana Charitable Public Benefit Corporation providing healthcare to all people who have critical needs without regard to their race, religion, gender, physical or mental condition, or ability to pay.
St. John's Lutheran Hospital in 2008
Through the years, St. John’s has served the many residents and visitors in the area. Because a large segment of our population is at or near retirement age, we have expanded our services to provide more local procedures and testing. Even those who choose to go to other facilities for elective or scheduled care still depend on St. John’s to be here in case of an emergency. We are truly a community hospital that has a responsibility for each and every person in our county.
