Nuclear Medicine

In our ongoing commitment to provide a high standard of quality care to the communities that we serve, Cabinet Peaks has teamed up with Kalispell Regional Medical Center to bring mobile nuclear medicine to Libby.

What is Nuclear Medicine?

Nuclear Medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose a variety of diseases including many types of cancer, heart disease, and other abnormalities within the body.

It differs from other imaging resources, such as CT and MRI which look at anatomy, because it looks at both anatomy and the physiology and function of the body. This provides doctors with information that would otherwise be unavailable, or require surgery or other expensive diagnostic tests. With nuclear medicine, medical experts can visualize tumors, irregular blood flow, and inadequate functioning of numerous organs in the body.

Nuclear Medicine offers a safe, powerful, early detection of disease and supports the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses much earlier than other methods.
